Apply to a Program
How to apply to an LFX Mentorship program from LFX Self Serve, including the eligibility checks and prerequisites.

The apply page confirms your profile and your eligibility, then submits your application for the term. Anything the program wants you to produce comes afterwards, as prerequisite tasks.
Before you begin
- You need a mentee profile. See Become a Mentee.
- You may hold at most three open applications at a time. Withdrawing one frees a slot.
- Find the program first at mentorship.linuxfoundation.org and select Apply to This Program; the link carries the program and term you are applying to.
- The term must still be accepting applications.
Steps
- Open the apply page from the program's Apply to This Program button.
- Confirm the eligibility checks:
- You are old enough to take part.
- You are authorized to work.
- You do not already hold a duplicate mentee profile.
- Confirm the compliance statement.
- Acknowledge the program terms.
- Submit the application.
The apply page collects no cover letter, resume or file. It confirms your profile and the five statements, and submits the program and term. Anything the program asks you to produce is assigned as a prerequisite task after the application exists.
All five confirmations must be ticked before the submit button is enabled.
After completing
The application appears as a card on your Overview tab. Its badge is In Progress while prerequisite tasks remain, and Awaiting Review once you have submitted them all — or straight away if the program assigned none.
Any prerequisite tasks appear under My Tasks, grouped as Prerequisite Tasks. Work through those next: the program reviews your application once they are in.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| The page says the term is not accepting applications | The term closed between opening the program page and applying. Pick another program or wait for the next term. |
| You cannot reach the apply page | You have no mentee profile yet, or the link is missing the program or term. Start again from the program page. |
| Submit stays disabled | One of the five confirmations is unticked. |
