Org Overview dashboard
What each card on the Organization lens Dashboard (the Org Overview) shows, how its numbers are counted, and where its links go.

These steps apply to anyone with access to at least one organization in the Organization lens, such as an organization admin (editor or viewer) or Linux Foundation staff. A CLA (Contributor License Agreement) Manager or initial CLA Manager designee (the person nominated to sign the company's corporate CLA and become its first CLA Manager) with no other role on an organization sees only its EasyCLA page, not the Org Overview. To pick the organization the page shows, see Choose and switch an organization.
What is the Org Overview?
The Org Overview is the Dashboard of the Organization lens: a one-page summary of how the selected organization takes part in Linux Foundation (LF) foundations and projects. On a larger screen, it opens when you select Organization in the lens switcher, and from Dashboard at the top of the sidebar. On a phone or small screen, selecting Organization in the navigation menu only shows that lens's menu: select Dashboard in it to open the page. If your only role on that organization is CLA Manager or initial CLA Manager designee, you land on its EasyCLA page instead. See Where do I find EasyCLA?. Its address is /org/<organization>/overview.
The page has three parts, from top to bottom:
- A heading with the organization's name followed by Overview, such as Acme Overview, and a label with the organization's Linux Foundation membership tier, when it has one.
- Involvement — six cards for the organization's contributions, events and training.
- Foundations and Projects — four summary tiles and a table of every foundation the organization is involved in.
What do the Involvement cards show?
The Involvement cards count the selected organization's active contributors, maintainer roles, event attendees and speakers, certified employees and training enrollments. The section heading names the organization, such as Acme's Involvement, followed by across N LF foundations, or No engagement yet when the organization is involved in no foundation or that count did not load.
Use the buttons above the cards to show only one group: All, Contribution, Event or Education. Use the arrow buttons at the right of the heading to scroll through the cards. The cards are for reading only: selecting one does not open another page. If a card's figures did not load, it shows 0, except Maintainer roles, which shows a dash (—).
| Card | What it counts |
|---|---|
| Active Contributors | People with at least one code contribution (a commit, pull request, review or comment) in LF and non-LF projects over the past 2 years. Each person is credited to the employer they had when they did the work, so people who have since left are included. Only the organization shown on the company's LFX Insights page is counted, in the repositories LFX Insights counts; if the company has no LFX Insights organization, or that organization has no code activity in the past two years, every related organization is counted (see Organization scope). Bots and people marked as team members in LFX are left out. The card's subtitle reads LF and non-LF projects, past 2 years, credited to the organization at the time of their work. |
| Maintainer roles | People named as maintainers in a project's governance files, counted once per project and credited to their current employer, in LF and non-LF projects over the past 2 years. People marked as team members in LFX are left out. A dash (—) in place of a number means the roles cannot be read right now; it does not mean zero. |
| Event Attendees | Employees at foundation events — the organization's employees who attended a foundation event in the last 12 months. |
| Event Speakers | Employee speakers at events — the organization's employees who spoke at an event in the last 12 months. |
| Certified Employees | The number of employees who earned a certification in the last 12 months, shown as N employees, with the total number of certifications they earned in that time underneath, such as 12 total certifications. |
| Training Enrollments | Training courses enrolled this year — the organization's employees' enrollments in training courses this year. Its chart adds them up day by day. |
On Active Contributors and Maintainer roles, the information icon next to the title gives the full counting rule. When the monthly figures are available, their bar charts show one bar per month for the last 12 months, and the caption under the chart names that window, for example Per month, Nov 2025 – Oct 2026 to date, LF and non-LF projects. The current month is counted up to today. If the monthly figures cannot be read, the chart is empty and has no caption. The number on the card is counted separately, so an empty chart does not mean the number is zero.
What do the Foundations and Projects tiles show?
The four tiles at the top of the Foundations and Projects section total the selected organization's foundation memberships, projects, governance seats and this week's meetings. Foundations counts only the foundations it is a member of, so it can be lower than the number of rows in the table below. The section heading names the organization, such as Acme's Foundations and Projects. Under each total, a line breaks it down. A category with nothing to count is left off that line, and a dash (—) means no category has anything to count.
| Tile | What it counts |
|---|---|
| Foundations | The foundations where the organization is a member with a membership tier, broken down by that tier, such as Gold (2), Silver (1). Non-member foundations and the Outside LF row are listed in the table but not counted here |
| Projects | The projects the organization is involved in, broken down by influence: Leading, Contributing, Participating and Silent |
| Governance Roles | Seats held by the organization's people, broken down into Board members and Committee members |
| Meetings This Week | This week's meetings in the organization's foundations, broken down into Board, Technical, Marketing, Working Group and Other |
What does the foundations table show?
The foundations table lists one row per foundation the selected organization is involved in, with the organization's role in each, plus an Outside LF row for its projects that are not part of a Linux Foundation foundation. Each row shows the foundation's logo and name, how many projects the organization is involved in there (such as 3 projects involved), and a membership label: the tier followed by Member (such as Gold Member), Non-member, or Outside LF.
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Foundation | The foundation's name, logo, project count and membership label |
| Org Role | Director, Member or Non-Member |
| Voting Status | Voting or Observer. A dash (—) means there is no voting status to show |
| Governance Participation | How often the organization's people attend governance, working group and project meetings: Active above 66% attendance, Partial from 33% to 66%, and Inactive below 33%. Hover over the label to see the attendance percentage, rounded to a whole number. A dash (—) means there is no attendance to measure |
How do I see the projects inside a foundation?
Select the arrow at the start of a foundation's row to expand it. The expanded row lists Projects Involved (N), with one line per project:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Project | The project's name, with a colored dot for the organization's influence: dark green for Leading, blue for Contributing, amber for Participating and gray for Silent |
| LF maintainer roles | Maintainer roles the organization's people hold on the project over the past 2 years, with people marked as team members left out. Only LF projects are counted. A dash (—) means the project is not an LF project, or its maintainer roles cannot be read right now; it does not mean zero |
| Contributors | The organization's people who contributed to the project |
| Collaborators | The organization's people who collaborated on the project |
| Commits (last 12 months) | Commits the organization's people authored in the last 12 months, on any branch, including pull-request commits not yet merged. Each commit is counted once, and bots are left out |
If the organization has no active projects in that foundation, the expanded row says No projects from this foundation are currently active for your org.
Where do the links on the Org Overview go?
The Org Overview links to the Memberships and Projects pages of the same organization. The Involvement cards and the summary tiles do not link anywhere.
- View all on Memberships page ›, at the right of the Foundations and Projects heading, opens the Memberships page.
- Selecting a foundation's row opens the Memberships page. The Outside LF row does not open anything.
- Selecting a project inside an expanded foundation opens that project's page under Projects. Only LF projects open a page; other projects are listed for reference.
On a keyboard, move to a foundation or project row and press Enter or Space to open it.
Where are the return on investment (ROI) figures?
Return on investment (ROI) figures are not on the Org Overview. They are on the separate ROI Metrics page, which only Linux Foundation staff can see. See ROI metrics for what that page shows and how the figures are estimated.
What do the messages on the Org Overview mean?
The Org Overview shows a message in place of the page or a section when there is nothing to show, you cannot open an organization, or something did not load.
| Message | What it means and what to do |
|---|---|
| No organization selected | You have no organization to show. Linux Foundation staff with no organizations assigned to them get no automatic selection and see Search for an organization in the switcher above to view its Org Lens. — search for one in the organization switcher and select it. Anyone else who sees it is asked to double-check their invite status with their admin, or to select contact support. |
| No organization linked to your account | LFX did not find an organization you have access to, and could not confirm that your employer is a Linux Foundation member. Add an affiliation links your profile to your employer, but an affiliation does not by itself give you access: you still need a grant from your organization's Organization Lens administrators. If you already added one, select Already added one? Contact support |
| You do not have access to the Organization Lens | Your employer is a Linux Foundation member, but you have not been granted access to it. Access is limited to a small set of admins: ask one, likely your open source program office (OSPO), to grant it, or select Contact support |
| Some organizations could not be loaded | Your organizations did not load. This is a temporary problem and does not change your access. Select Retry |
| We could not confirm your staff access | The Linux Foundation staff check did not complete. Your permissions have not changed. Select Retry. If it keeps failing, select Still failing? Send this reference to support |
| No foundations or projects yet. | The organization is not involved in any foundation or project yet, so the table is empty |
| No engagement yet | Shown next to the Involvement heading. The organization is involved in no foundation, or the count of its foundations did not load. If you expected foundations, reload the page |
| Couldn't load Foundations and Projects. | The Foundations and Projects section did not load. Select Retry. The Involvement cards above it are not affected |
If a link shows a message such as You do not have access to this organization or This link does not open an organization in place of the dashboard, the link did not open an organization. The organization may not exist, you may not have access to it, or the lookup may have failed for a moment. See What happens when a link does not open an organization?.
