Organization FAQ
Short answers about EasyCLA in the Organization lens — who can edit a corporate CLA, who can see a company, access after a CLA Manager change, and how a first CLA Manager is added.
Last updated
Why can't I edit this corporate CLA?
You can change a corporate CLA (CCLA) only when you are a CLA Manager named on that agreement, and a role added or removed in the last 30 minutes may not have taken effect yet. An organization admin or a viewer can read every corporate CLA of the company and still be unable to edit one they are not named on. The name on the list has to match your LF username exactly, including capitalization. See Who can see EasyCLA, and who can change a corporate CLA?.
Why can't I see my company in the Organization lens?
You see EasyCLA for an organization you can open in the Organization lens. If you are a CLA Manager for a company that does not appear there, manage that company's agreements in the Corporate CLA Console. Membership does not by itself hide a company: Linux Foundation staff can open organizations that are not members. A CLA Manager with no other Organization lens role sees EasyCLA Management and nothing else in the sidebar. See Where do I find EasyCLA?.
Why do I still have access after I was removed as a CLA Manager?
A CLA Manager role that was just added or just removed can take about 30 minutes before every control matches the list. Reload the page after waiting. If you removed yourself, this page updates your own controls when the list reloads, so you do not keep managing that agreement from this page while you wait. See Who can see EasyCLA, and who can change a corporate CLA?.
How do I add a first CLA Manager when a corporate CLA has none?
On an agreement that is not signed yet, identify the initial CLA Manager while signing: Start the CLA process, then answer Are you authorized to be a CLA Manager for your organization? On an agreement that is already signed and lists no CLA Managers, Add CLA Manager stays disabled, because only someone already named on it can add another. That record needs EasyCLA support. See How do I add or remove a CLA Manager?.
Why does EasyCLA say "We couldn't load your CLAs"?
We couldn't load your CLAs is the title for two different failures. You don't have an EasyCLA role at this organization means this page has nothing to show you, and contact support is there if you need EasyCLA assistance. Something went wrong fetching this organization's corporate CLAs means the load failed — refresh the page. The title alone does not say which one you hit. See Who can see EasyCLA, and who can change a corporate CLA?.
What does Auto Acknowledge do?
Auto Acknowledge is the switch on Overview. On, employees matching the Approved List are covered automatically. Off, those employees still need to individually acknowledge the CLA before they are covered. You can see the switch on any signed corporate CLA you can open. You can change it only when you are a CLA Manager named on that agreement. See What does Auto Acknowledge do?.
How do I sign a corporate CLA?
You sign a corporate CLA (CCLA) from Sign CLA on EasyCLA, either yourself in DocuSign or by sending it to the person who should sign. Select Sign CLA, choose the CLA Group, and, if asked, confirm you are authorized to be a CLA Manager. If you answer No and name someone else, your part ends there and that person continues. On Confirm Authorization to Sign the CLA, pick one branch:
- To sign yourself, complete Authorization Confirmation and Compliance Confirmation, select Continue, then Review and Sign CCLA. That opens DocuSign. Self Serve does not run the ceremony.
- To have someone else sign, select I am not authorized without completing the confirmations. In Identify who should sign, enter their name and email and select Send Signature Request Email. See How do I sign a corporate CLA?.
What does a sanctioned organization look like?
A sanctioned organization has no status pill, and the Overview heading ends with Unavailable. There is no banner on the page. Signing and changes are refused. Answering the CLA Manager question while signing for that organization shows Your organization cannot sign this CLA at this time. Contact support for more information. Any other refused step shows an error when you try it. See What does a sanctioned organization look like on EasyCLA?.
