Manage Recurring Donations

This article explains how to view your recurring donation details and how to cancel a recurring donation subscription in LFX Self Serve. A recurring donation is a monthly subscription that automatically charges your saved payment method each billing cycle. You can cancel it at any time from the recurring donations list or from its detail page.

Before you begin

• Sign in to LFX Self Serve at app.lfx.dev with your Linux Foundation account.
• You must have at least one recurring donation. The Recurring Donations section appears on the Donations page only when you have one.

View recurring donation details

1. Sign in to app.lfx.dev.
2. Select Crowdfunding → Donations from the left navigation sidebar.
3. Find the donation in the Recurring Donations list.
4. Select the donation to open its detail page.

The detail page shows:

• Initiative name, fund type, and description, with View Initiative to open the initiative on the public crowdfunding site in a new tab
• Monthly amount and subscription status:
  • Active — the subscription is running and charges will continue on the next billing date
  • Paused — the subscription is temporarily on hold and no charges are being processed
  • Canceled — the subscription has been canceled and will not be charged again
• Billing description
• Start date and total amount contributed to date
• Next Charge date for an active subscription, or Paused Since for a paused one
• Charge History, listing the period, date charged, and amount of each past charge. Select Load more to see older charges.

Select Back to Donations to return to the Donations page.

Cancel a recurring donation

You can cancel from the detail page or directly from the list.

From the detail page:

1. Open the recurring donation detail page (see steps above).
2. Select Cancel.
3. In the Cancel Recurring Donation dialog, select Cancel Donation. Select Keep to leave the subscription running.

From the list:

1. Go to Crowdfunding → Donations.
2. In the Recurring Donations list, select the More options menu (⋯) on the donation.
3. Select Cancel, then Cancel Donation to confirm.

Cancelling a recurring donation stops all future charges for that subscription immediately and cannot be undone. Past charges are not refunded. The subscription stays in your Recurring Donations list with a red Canceled status, and its detail page no longer shows the Cancel button. Past charges remain visible in its charge history and in your donation history on the View Donations page.

Frequently asked

Will I be charged again after I cancel a recurring donation? No. Cancelling a recurring donation stops all future charges immediately. You will not be billed on any future billing date for that subscription.

Can I get a refund after cancelling? Cancelling a recurring donation does not refund any past charges. Only future charges are stopped.

Why is my canceled donation still in the list? Canceled subscriptions stay in your Recurring Donations list, marked Canceled, so you can still review their charge history. They are not charged again.

Can I restart a canceled recurring donation? No. Cancellation cannot be undone. To give monthly again, start a new recurring donation from the initiative's page on the LFX Crowdfunding site.

What does a Paused subscription mean? A Paused subscription is temporarily on hold. No charges are processed while the subscription is paused, and no action is needed from you. The subscription resumes automatically when the pause period ends.
